Cygnar Wishlist

The latest big Cygnar release was all the Trencher stuff, which I found disappointing. My armies are mostly Storm Division and Heavy Metal - the only trenchers I own are an unassembled Maxwell Finn and an unassembled Chain Gun crew. And while the recent release of Bastian Falk was pretty cool, I've been mostly staying away from my Arcane Tempest models recently as well.

That said, here are some fun model ideas for future Cygnar releases.

  • Pangborn (Weapon Attachment) - In the Malcontents novels, Pangborn is a stormgunner who befriends a mechanic and learns about jack repair and marshalling. So how about a 3 point character stormgunner with added repair and jack marshall rules? As a character model, he'd likely also have boxes.

  • Grenadier Command Attachment - The Stormsmith Grenadiers are rarely taken. The biggest issue is that the round they move into range to take attacks is generally the last round they live. Their grenades are too short-range, and they die quickly to melee. How about a command attachment that gives them reposition 3 and a mini-feat of bullet dodger, which they can use during that critical round to keep them in the game just one more round?

  • Stormguard Command Attachment - Nobody takes Stormguard. On paper, it seems like they'd be decent as a front line and infantry mulching force. Having never played them, I'm hard-pressed to say what would be enough for people to bring them to a table. But a command attachment that made them playable would be nice.

  • I believe that Allison Jakes has a character charger in the fluff somewhere. How about bringing that one to life? It would be interesting, because whatever bond exists could be brought to bear by either journeyman Jakes or by the full-fledged caster Jakes. It could have parry, maybe an armor-piercing melee weapon, or maybe a bond that let Jakes upkeep a spell on it for free.

and now a couple crazy ideas...

  • Nemo's Character Squire (caster attachment) - Nemo's character squire would still give the caster a +2 control area when the caster was within 5" and most of the other stats remain the same. But it doesn't give rerolls on spells, and only has 1 accumulator box to give focus. Instead, it's an arc node. Having to remain within 5" seems a bit of skornergy, but it forces a trade-off in Cygnar's new cheapest arc node. Additionally, the caster can allocate focus to jacks in the epic squire's (small) command area, and  Nemo's bond with the squire allows spells he channels through it can choose one of three effects: +2 range, -1 cost, or rerolls to hit.

  • Darius's character Stormwall - What? A character colossal? That would be a first. But why not? Darius needs some kind of boost for sure. And this is probably exactly what he'd want. A stormwall with a point higher armor, the Tried & True rule, and maybe a bond that gives it something like Oracular Vision. This jack ain't never going down.

And lastly, some variant sculpts. It breaks my heart to see the minicrate models being all pinups. I'd love to see another variant journeyman warcaster or a variant Gun Mage officer. And how awesome would an extreme gobber tinker be? They don't need to be in bikinis or have a no-so-subtle reference to pop culture.
